Welcome to CTE Welding Technology at Kearns High School
News: This year, students who take the Advanced or Intermediate Welding class, may earn credit for Kearns High and Salt Lake Community College (3 credits). There will be an additional charge for the college registration of $40.00. This is a bargain because if you took this same class after you graduate high school at the community college it would cost approximately $800.00. We will talk more about this on the first day of class.
Welding 1-2 This is a beginning course introducing the student to welding. This is a hands-on course where approx. 70% of the time the student will be welding. The course will cover the following processes:
Oxy-Acetylene Welding and Cutting
Shielded Metal Arc Welding (STICK)
Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG)
Short circuit transfer
Globular transfer
Spray transfer
Plasma Arc Cutting
CNC Plasma Arc Cutting
Welding 3-4 This is an advanced course in which the student will hone his/her skills learned in Welding 1-2. The student will also learn additional processes:
